All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling

All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling (AJW) was a Japanese women's professional wrestling promotion that operated from 1968 to 2005. AJW was the most prominent joshi (women's) wrestling promotion during its operation and is credited with developing many innovations in women's wrestling.

AJW produced legendary wrestlers including the Crush Gals (Chigusa Nagayo and Lioness Asuka), Bull Nakano, Akira Hokuto, Manami Toyota, Kyoko Inoue, Aja Kong, and Dynamite Kansai. The promotion was known for its intense, athletic style that often surpassed men's wrestling of the era in terms of in-ring action.

The 1980s saw AJW reach mainstream popularity in Japan, with the Crush Gals becoming pop culture icons. Financial difficulties and the emergence of competing promotions led to AJW's decline and eventual closure in 2005. The promotion's legacy lives on through the many wrestlers it trained and the joshi style it helped define.
