About

Jim Crockett Promotions is a family-owned professional wrestling promotion headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Founded in 1931 by Jim Crockett, the promotion operated at various times under the names Eastern States Championship Wrestling and Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. It emerged as a cornerstone of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), and by the 1980s had grown into one of the two largest wrestling promotions in the United States, alongside the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE).

The Crockett family eventually sold a majority interest in the promotion to Turner Broadcasting System, a transaction that led directly to the creation of World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1988. Turner Broadcasting System was later acquired by Time Warner in 1996, which subsequently became WarnerMedia from 2018 to 2022, and is now known as Warner Bros. Discovery. In 2022, Jim Crockett Promotions Inc. was restarted by David Crockett, son of Jim Crockett and brother of Jim Crockett Jr., reviving the storied family brand.
