Combat Zone Wrestling
Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) is an American professional wrestling promotion founded in 1999 by John Zandig in the Philadelphia area. CZW became one of the most prominent hardcore wrestling promotions following ECW's closure.
The promotion is known for its extreme death matches featuring weapons like light tubes, glass, and barbed wire. CZW has produced significant talent including Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley), The Briscoe Brothers, Sami Callihan, Chris Hero, and Nick Gage. The Tournament of Death is CZW's signature annual event.
While maintaining its hardcore identity, CZW has also featured traditional wrestling matches and served as a training ground for future stars. The promotion influenced the ultra-violent style seen in other companies and maintains a dedicated following in the Philadelphia wrestling scene.
