New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) is a Japanese professional wrestling promotion founded on January 13, 1972, by Antonio Inoki, and based in Nakano, Tokyo. The promotion is currently majority owned by card-game company Bushiroad, with TV Asahi and Amuse Inc. holding minority shares. Naoki Sugabayashi has served as Chairman since September 2013, while Hiroshi Tanahashi has served as president since December 2023.
Owing to its television program aired on TV Asahi, NJPW is the largest and longest-running professional wrestling promotion in Japan. Its biggest annual event is the Tokyo Dome Show, held each January 4 since 1992 and currently promoted under the Wrestle Kingdom banner. Beyond traditional professional wrestling, NJPW has also showcased mixed martial arts bouts at select live events. The promotion has maintained relationships with numerous organizations throughout its history, including WWE, All Elite Wrestling, Ring of Honor, and Pride Fighting Championships, among others, reflecting its significant influence within the global professional wrestling landscape.
