Biography

Sunny Dhinsa (born May 20, 1993, in Abbotsford, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional wrestler and former amateur wrestler, best known for performing under the ring name Akam in WWE. Before his wrestling career, Dhinsa attended Simon Fraser University, where he established himself as an elite amateur wrestler. He won the Canadian national freestyle wrestling championship in the heavyweight category in 2011, 2012, and 2013, and claimed a gold medal in the 115 kg category at the 2009 Canada Summer Games. He also earned a silver medal at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara. Dhinsa competed in the qualification tournament for the 2012 Summer Olympics but missed out after losing to Dremiel Byers. Considered a prospect for the 2016 Summer Olympics, he instead accepted a WWE contract in 2014 after being scouted by Gerald Brisco.

Dhinsa began his professional wrestling career in 2015, trained by the WWE Performance Center. Performing as Akam, he teamed with Rezar to form The Authors of Pain, with whom he won the NXT Tag Team Championship and the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship once each. The team also won the 2016 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament.
