Royal Rumble (1995)
The 1995 Royal Rumble was the eighth annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view event produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). It took place on January 22, 1995, at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida, drawing an attendance of 10,000. The event featured five matches and continued the tradition, established in 1993, of the Royal Rumble match winner receiving a world championship opportunity at WrestleMania; the 1995 winner earned a match for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XI.
The main event saw Shawn Michaels win the Royal Rumble match after entering first and outlasting all 29 other participants, marking the first time the first entrant had won the match. Diesel defended the WWF World Heavyweight Championship against Bret Hart in a match stopped due to outside interference. Jeff Jarrett defeated Razor Ramon for the WWF Intercontinental Championship, and The 1–2–3 Kid and Bob Holly won a tournament final to become the new WWF Tag Team Champions. A notable incident occurred when Bam Bam Bigelow attacked NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor at ringside, setting up a match between the two at WrestleMania XI.
