About

The WWE Championship, also referred to as the Undisputed WWE Championship since April 2024, is a men's professional wrestling world heavyweight singles title created and promoted by WWE. It was established on April 25, 1963, by the then-World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) as the WWWF World Heavyweight Championship, following the promotion's secession from the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). Buddy Rogers was its inaugural champion. As the oldest active championship in WWE, it is presented as the promotion's most prestigious title, with many of its matches headlining pay-per-view and livestreaming events, including WrestleMania.

Currently defended on the SmackDown brand division, the title is one of two men's world championships on WWE's main roster, alongside the World Heavyweight Championship on Raw. The championship has undergone numerous name changes throughout its history due to company rebranding and title unifications. The current champion is Cody Rhodes, who is in his third reign, having won the title by defeating Drew McIntyre on the March 6, 2026, episode of SmackDown.
