The Shield was a professional wrestling stable in WWE consisting of Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins, debuting on November 18, 2012, at the Survivor Series pay-per-view. The group quickly established dominance in six-man tag team competition, maintaining an undefeated televised streak from December 2012 to May 2013, including a victory at WrestleMania 29. At Extreme Rules in May 2013, all three members simultaneously held championships, with Ambrose capturing the United States Championship and Rollins and Reigns winning the WWE Tag Team Championship. The stable served as hired guns for CM Punk and The Authority before feuding with their former employers, and headlined the 2014 Payback pay-per-view as their final match as a trio in that run.
The Shield experienced multiple reunions following their initial dissolution in 2014, when Rollins turned on his partners by attacking them with a chair. They reunited in 2017 to feud with The Miz, Cesaro, and Sheamus, briefly dissolved again due to Ambrose's injury, then reunited once more in 2018 before disbanding following Reigns' leukemia rediagnosis and Ambrose's betrayal. After Reigns announced his remission in 2019, the trio reunited for their final matches, concluding with The Shield's Final Chapter, which served as Ambrose's last WWE match.
