Biography

Randy Mario Poffo (November 15, 1952 – May 20, 2011), better known as "Macho Man" Randy Savage, was an American professional wrestler, rapper, and professional baseball player. Trained by Angelo Poffo, he began his professional wrestling career in 1973 and went on to become widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. He is best known for his work in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW), where he wrestled under the stage location of Sarasota, Florida.

Savage was instantly recognizable for his flamboyant ring attire, raspy voice, intense in-ring presence, use of "Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1" as his entrance music, and his signature catchphrase, "Oooh yeah!" For much of his time in the WWF and WCW, he was managed by his real-life wife, Miss Elizabeth. Over his 32-year career, Savage accumulated ten world championship reigns, including two as WWF World Heavyweight Champion and four as WCW World Heavyweight Champion. He was also a one-time WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion, whom WWE named the greatest titleholder of that title of all time.

Savage headlined numerous major events, including WrestleMania IV and WrestleMania V, and won the 1987 WWF King of the Ring and the 1995 WCW World War 3. He was inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame in 1996 and received a posthumous WWE Hall of Fame induction in 2015.
