Biography
Adam Joseph Copeland, born October 30, 1973, is a Canadian professional wrestler and actor who began his professional wrestling career in 1992, competing across independent promotions in both singles and tag team competition. Trained by Bret Hart, Dory Funk Jr., Leo Burke, Ron Hutchison, and Sweet Daddy Siki, he signed a developmental deal with the World Wrestling Federation in 1997 and made his televised debut the following year under the ring name Edge, billed from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
During his WWE tenure, Copeland became one of the most decorated performers in company history, accumulating 31 championships. He held the World Heavyweight Championship a record seven times, the WWE Championship four times, and the World Tag Team Championship a record twelve times, much of the latter alongside his long-time friend Christian Cage. He also won the 2001 King of the Ring, the first Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 21, and the 2010 Royal Rumble, becoming the first wrestler to accomplish all three. He retired in 2011 due to neck injuries and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012, before returning in 2020 and eventually joining AEW in 2023.
Beyond wrestling, Copeland has pursued an acting career, appearing in films including Highlander: Endgame and playing recurring roles in Haven, Vikings, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the last of which earned him an Emmy Award nomination.
